Been A Minute...

Wow it's been a while since I posted anything... Been quite busy. The "Wedding" was in August. Except for an unfortunate event that went very well. It worked out for us in the end though.

The next day we flew out to San Diego, rented a car and commenced to road trip up the Pacific coast for 8 days. LONG trip but mucho fun. San Diego to Seattle Via Hwy 1 and 101. Beautiful.
Oregon Coast is where I want to spend the rest of my life (if it wasn't full of self righteous tree huggin hippies...).

Then when we got back we went right back to real life. Man I hated that. Come home from vacation to a mailbox full of bills. Way to harsh my mellow life... Lol.

The department finally got an Engineer position but unfortunately my low seniority in the dept didn't allow me to get the position. Oh well moved me 36 spots up in Firefighter seniority so I pretty much have my choice of anywhere I want to go at shift bids now. Finally got down into civilization, Station 10 in Tijeras right on I-40. Good calls there. Good crew too.

A buddy of mine was selling a a boat CHEAP so I bought it. Needs a lot of work but my Dad and I are gonna re-build it over the winter. Should be fun. Give me something to do on my off time too.
That's all I got. Out.

Well...

Haven't posted in a while. Guess I ourghtta. Been listening to to a lot of Hank Williams III, man that guy sounds like his granddad. Definitely follows his dad's lead though, rebel to the core. Nothing I like more than 2 of my favorite things coming together, the Punk spirit and Outlaw country. Cowpunk. It's good stuff.

Finally done with my liquid diet, it was tough, lost 11 pounds though. Hopefully we can stay on the healthy side of things. Kelli has a new work schedual, 0730 to 1630 so that's got me gettin up at 0545 with her so I'm gonna start takin the dogs for a walk in the morning. Went this morning, those dogs need to learn to walk on a leash and not yank on it lol. Brats. Bruiser, the little pup is in trouble with me though... We got home from our walk and I decided to let them play in the yard as I enjoyed some coffee and a little Bible reading, well he was having so much fun he decided to jump in my lap just as I was taking a drink of my coffee and knocked the cup out of my hand. Burned me, stained my nice white shirt coffee brown and dyed the first few pages of Matthew coffee brown. Dork dog. Oh well. What can ya do?

Wedding ceremony thing is coming up quick. Just less than 2 weeks if I'm correct... I'm ready for it to be done too much stress and wasted energy. I don't know why it's got me all flustered but it does. Looking forward to our trip to the Left Coast too. I miss the ocean. Looking forward to some serious seafood too. Some good shark steaks and Crab. MMMMMM! Hope this little place in Carpinteria, Ca. still exists, Chuy's, best fish taco I ever had. Yup. Should be a fun trip, San Diego to Seattle via the P.C.H. Yay.

Think that's all I care to write this early in the morning. Out.

Other blog

For my log of progress and such is http://sad183.blogspot.com/

That's where I'll be logging the diet prgress.

I've lost my mind...

Kind of... I've committed to doing a liquid diet for the month of July as a fundraiser for a guy in the Dept. His young son (less than a year I believe) died last year of Meningitis. He is doing a liquid diet in remembrance and as a fundraiser for the meningitis foundation and I decided to do it with him. 31 days without solid food... I must be insane.

I'm going to start another blog to help log my progress.

New hobby

I've taken up a new hobby... Stencil Graffiti. I've always like "graf" art but just recently decided to give it a shot... I can't "write" but I can make stencils and paint. Lol. Some of my stuff thus far... Not much but it's a start...

Cassette on the hood of my truck where the pain is fading...

"Smiley" face on my locker at work

Cassette on my helmet at work...

Rat w/ flower on my jeep...

It's fun. Gives me something to do with myself on days off.

Contradiction

So I've always known I'm a walking contradiction but yesterday a co-worker told me "Dude... You are suffering a severe identity crisis... Drive a big redneck truck, listen to Punk, shave your head, dress like a skate kid... What's your deal?" HAHAHHAAAAAAA! I love it! I'm a great big walking contradiction. I can't be "souped" as I call it, classified like a soup can.

I like to think I'm a pretty laid back guy, pretty slow to anger usually, takes a lot to work me up but every once in a while, like ever 3-4 months I get this itch to go to a good punk show or somethin and get blitzed and smash people. The itch hit me last night. I don't know why but it hits me and it won't go away till I walk out of the pit with blood on my shirt, be it mine or someone elses. Lol. Until that happens it seems like im always just walkin around trying to find a fight. I can't explain why I get this urge but I do, something about it reminds me I'm still alive. NOTHING reminds you you are still alive like getting an elbow to the sternum... Or delivering one. That's why I love the punk shows, it's understood you will get your ass kicked but you leave all being friendly towards each other.

I'm trying to find info about going back to EMT school and getting My EMT-Intermediate liscence but the UNM EMS website is a pain to navigate as is the CNM one. I'm bored being an EMT-B, I want to stick people with needles lol. Broaden my skillset a little, get to play a little more on calls. Meh. Couldn't do it now if I wanted to anyway.

Because I havent in a while

Well I've noticed an influx of obnoxious, loud, inconsiderate young(er than I) people out and about so I guess that means school is out. Great, a few months of trying not to be run off the road by terrible freshly licensed people... lol. I really hope I was never like some of these kids... I can't seem to recall...

Had the in-laws and my parents out to the house for a little BBQ this past weekend, it was good times. Glad the weather shaped up and gave us some sun instead of the rain we haf been having. I was going to grill anyway, cuz... I'm hardcore like that. FINALLY got my dog run built, the dogs seem to enjoy it. Got a nice tree to lay out under and lots of room. They would rather be inside but, the weather is finally nice enough we just let them in at night. The night I finished the dog run the dogs slept out in it and we had a pack of Coyotes come visit and sing to the dogs and they joined in the chorus. Now it seems the Coyotes like to come every night and sing... It's beyond annoying and if I didnt have neighbors in such close proximity I'd go out and make a stand and let them meet my .243... But I can't.

I was out gathering some rocks off my road as free landscaping material and came across some BIG cat prints in the dirt. Bigger than a Bobcat that's for sure, so I'm thinking we have a Mountain Lion lurking somewhere around. I havent heard a cat or seen sign around the house yet so that's good. Makes me worry when I'm at work and the wife's home alone though. She knows how to use the pistol and shotgun though so... Put's my mind a little more at ease.

It's a trip... I was thinking back yesterday while I was on the treadmill at work. I'm about to start my 3rd year in the Fire Service. I've been out of highschool for SEVEN years. I'm hearing songs that came out when I was in sixth grade being played on the classic rock station. My sister is getting married in 2 weeks. My dog is 5 years old...lol Kinda freaked me out... I was like "Whoa... I'm like... A grown up and stuff... That's weird..."

A little gem I stumbled on.

Some of the most real Hip-Hop I've heard in A while. Stumbled on this guy while perusing the internets.

(no title) (because I dont want to) (lol)

First off... Gumball 3k is a cross country race for the insanely rich and bored of the world. There are a few versions that happen, there is Mischief 3000 in Europe, Gumball 3000 in the US, Cannonball Run in the US and... I think thats it. Basically if you are rich and want to drive fast across the country, this is your race. A lot of these guys/gals end up in jail or with massive amounts of traffic fines. Good times.

Secondly, Money sucks.

Good day.

ughh

Well, I think I'm finally over my illness. Got sick last week sometime and I been down and out since. I can actually function today without feeling like death lol. Still rollin 1 vehicle. Turns out the Passat is going to need far more work than I can or care to afford right now, so, the Corrolla is getting fixed. Still gonna cost more than I care, but it's the cheaper alternative.

The Gumball 3000 cross country rally came through last night, got a few pics of a straggler today.
An all chrome Lamborghini. Pretty cool.
Saw a silver Ferrari in Edgewood too but I was too slow on the draw to snap a pic of him. Always been a dream of mine to participate in the Gumball, either American or European. Just can't afford the car, the potential tickets/jailtime or the entry fee for that matter lol. It would be a blast though, 3-4 days of full out wide open throttle across the country. Le sigh. Oh well.

That's all I'm motivated to write for now.

Things.

It's two-fer Tuesday. Maybe more depending on how much the ADD gets kickin as I write...

So I been on my diet/workout regime for just over a week now. Well longer, but hardcore for just over a week. Eating EXTREMELY clean, no processed foods if possible, low carbs, high protein, drinking only water and milk. Down 6lb, and making decent visible gains (or losses... whatever). Only 11 more weeks in my 12 week transformation. Pretty happy with the results so far.

Music. Music plays a huge role in my life, probably in everyones but... Anyway. Music has always been there for me and never has let me down. Whenever I need that kick in the gut to get me moving or whenever I feel like there's no one to count on, music is there. Music has pulled me out of some holes, and opened up new ways for me to look at things. New ways to express myself. New outlets of my emotions. Here's my musical journey. My first concious memory of a song making me think "what the? who the? this is awesome!" is when I was probably in about 6th grade or so and hearing Greenday's Dookie album. That was when Punk Rock entered my life. Forever. Punk has never left me. It's always been there when I needed it. It's still my cornerstone and where I turn when there is nowhere else to go, more on that later. Through punk I discovered 3rd wave Ska, by way of Sublime, who, in my opinion are the KINGS of the SoCal skater punk sound.Sublime, No Doubt, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Reel Big Fish all played a huge role in my musical taste. Through 3rd wave ska, I discovered 2-tone and first wave. I discovered Toots and The Maytals, which opened the door for me to discover 2 "new" genres. Soul and Reggae. Peter Tosh and Bob Marley became huge icons in my life. Ray Charles, James Brown... Again huge Icons. I had always been a fan of Country, older country, thats what I grew up listening to well, that and classic rock. To this day my biggest music heros of all time include, Hank Williams Sr., Johnny Cash, George Jones, Lefty Frizzell, Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard... Classic rockers that make my music heros list, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, the Stones, AC/DC, Scorpions... So many more.

Back to punk rock. Greenday was my first exposure. From there I went down the road of pop-punkers. Then one day I heard a track from Rage Against The Machine. Wow. That turned my head. The anger, emotion... I went and bought their self titled album and I hard to have more. I sought out more "hard" stuff. That's when I found Hardcore Punk and Oi! and somehow metal. Bands like Bad Brains, Black Flag, Minor Threat, Dead Kennedys, Hatebreed, Madball, North Side Kings, Agnostic Front all became instant favorites. Something about hardcore gets my blood flowing and makes me want to kick ass at whatever task I am doing. I love it. Then there is grunge, Nirvana most notably has played a huge role in my life. They pulled me out of some holes when I was down at NMSU. Thanks Kurt, Dave, and Krist.

I leave with some of the best lyrics I have ever heard. Brad Nowell acknowledging his problem and the fact that he was going to lose to it...

Pool Shark - Sublime
Lying in my plastic bed,
thinking how thinking how things weren't so cool me.
My baby likes to shoot pool,
I like lying naked in my bedroom, tying off that dinosaur tonight,
it used to be so cool.

Now I got that needle, I can bleed, but I can't breathe.
Take it away, but I want more and more.
One day I'm gonna loose the war.

Rant

Haven't posted in a minute... But I got some rants lol

What is it with old people (or anyone really) at the gym thinking they need to wear spandex? I really dont want to see that much. The rest of us seem to get by ok with basketball shorts or sweats and a T-shirt. Give it a try.

98 year old people who can't see over the dashboard much less the steering wheel = you shouldn't be driving.

Global warming. IT'S SNOWING IN THE MIDDLE OF APRIL AL GORE! TELL ME ABOUT GLOBAL WARMING SOME MORE please. Because I haven't seen it snow in april since I was like 3. Not to mention 2008 was globally the coldest year on record in like the last 30 years. You are just making things up, just like you invented the internet.

All you fake people walking around with your spikey hair and freakish orange tans acting like you are better than every one else. Guess what. You're not. Being a total douche does not classify you as a superior being.

Paris Hilton and all the rest of the people that are famous for God only knows what reason. Die. Or at least live gracefully and quietly. No one cares that you have a dog that can fit in a match box. No one cares that you are best freinds with some other rich b*tch that I've never heard of. And PLEASE EAT SOMETHING. I don't like looking at peoples pelvic bones when they walk. It grosses me out.

Overpaid athletes, more specifically Alex Rodriguez of the worst team to ever exist, the NY Yankees, when you make more in a year than the entire payroll of the Tampa Bay Rays, something is wrong. And lay off the juice, all it's gonna do is make you fat and worthless by the time you are 50. If your heart doesn't explode before then.

Barack Obama. How you ever won the election is beyond me. I don't know why anyone would vote for such a hard left, socialist, anti-American, anti-Constitution, anti-Religion (Yeah did you hear about this? This guy goes to speak at Brown University, a Catholic University, and asks that all religious symbols and refrences be covered. AND THEY DID IT! WAY TO CAVE BROWN!), anti-Life candidate. WHY? For the historical matter of helping elect the first black prez? He and everyone else seem to forget he's half white too. You hear what he said about his own grandmother? "She is a typical white person..." And went on to describe her as a typical white person, making all white people out to be basically racist. Wow. Good Job.

Abusers of 911/EMS/Fire system. So you are sick. You have been sick for the last month. What changed to make you call 911 at 3 am? Nothing? Do you want to go to the hospital by ambulance? No? You just thought it would be nice to get me up out of bed just because? Or?

Nickleback. Worst. Band. Ever. How can you make a career out of 1 song? Change the Lyrics and sell it to people who have never once thought that music can be made not canned!

Out.

Ah... life...

Boy. Life sure does like to test my patience. Out of the 4 vehicles we own, only 1 is running right now. Hahaha. Good stuff. Last week the Passat threw a check engine light, code said it was for the Crankshaft Position sensor. No big, easy fix, expensive part, Kelli can drive the Corolla till payday when I can fix the Passat. Yesterday I get a call from her "Hey babe, I heard a pop and a loud grinding noise and my brakes started feeling funny... can you come look at my car while I'm at work today?" Sure. No big. I load up my tools and jacks and all that fun stuff and head to town. I tear into her car and find that the CV halfshaft has essentially commited seppuku and taken the whole wheel/hub assembly with it. Leaving us with the F250 to get both of us to and from work. Yay. The Jeep couldn't be driven on road even if it was running lol. Eh. We'll work it out but sure does put a little strain.
The 1 vehicle still running. I couldn't even use it to tow the Toyota because someone stole the hitch off it! Lame. I had to borrow my Dad's pickup to tow it. What good is it to have a big ol' F250 without a hitch!? NONE! Lol. Guess I ought to drop the money and get a new hitch. Hopefully my vacation request for tomorrow gets approved, then I'll be off for 2 shifts and I'll be able to get some stuff done and will sure relieve some stress of how to get Kelli and I both to work and back lol.

Tag

4-4-4 I've been tagged...... 1. Choose the fourth folder where you store pictures on your computer. 2. Choose the fourth picture. 3. Explain that picture. 4. Tag 4 other people.

This picture is from St. Baldricks day 2009. St. Baldricks is a charity for helping with childrens cancer research. BCFD forms a team every year to help raise money and we all get our heads shaved. This is our team from this year posing with Ms. New Mexico. Good times.

I dont have 4 people to tag... so... yeah.

Another victorious return from 41's

Yep. Another shift at the fighting 41 is down. No calls. Had our Combat Challenge physical assessment yesterday. Did the exact same time as I did last year. Not bad for being lazy and only working out like once a month. Lol. It did motivate me though to actually try this year instead of just doing the bear minimum. I mean, I'm 24, I should be doing that thing in the low 3 minute to high 2 minute range. So, I'm gonna renew my gym membership (again) and hit it hard, they say it helps to keep a log of your workouts and body changes to stay motivated so, I'm gonna give that a try. I just get lazy when it comes to working out, I've never been one for much physical activity but, my job demands the best from me so I guess I outta put my best into it huh?

Went fishing the other day, took the dogs they seemed to enjoy it. Sid, the German shepherd, is terrified of water. It's pretty funny he was barking at it and trying to bite it. The little lab, Bruiser, loved it. He was all about swimming. It was too windy though to be enjoyable, we were only out for about 2 hours. Eh, a bad day fishing is better than a good day working right? That's what I choose to believe anyway. lol.

Guess I gotta have the obligatory poor quality self portrait taken on the cellphone cam pic eh? Lol. Good times.

That's all I got for now. I'm gonna see if I can dig up some of my (very) amateur photography and throw it up here. I may have lost it all when my laptop died but I may have some on this mochine.

4.06.2009

Y hallo thar!

Hi. I'm doing this simply because I'm bored. I have a lot of free time. I could probably be doing something far more constructive but... I'm just not that motivated most of the time. Sad huh? Oh well. I'm 24 and married, no kids. We have 2 dogs. A lab/shepherd mix who is about 5 and a lab/something mix that is about 7 mo. Been a firefighter for just under 2 years now. 2 years in June. It's good times. I love it. It's hard work sometimes and you have to see a lot of bad things but... I'm a closet adrenaline junkie so it's great for me. I'm gonna try to update this thing at least once a week. No one is going to read it anyway lol. Oh well.

Some pics because I can!
Here's our little homestead. Nothin huge or fancy but we dig it! Nice little place on 5 acres right at the base of south mountain. Landscaped back yard with an irrigation system. Baller. I love it out here in the East Mountains. It's not so far from Burque that we can't go into town whenever we want but it's far enough out to not have to deal with all the insanity of the city. Not like it's a huge city, but if you know me you know I like to be left the eff alone.

Here's our view off the back porch. We are literally right at the base of South Mountain (turns out it's actually called San Pedro mountain... ) this picture does not do justice to how close we are to the mtn. MAYBE 1/2 mile? Wind sure does kick through here though. Wind destroyed my brand new grill. I was angry. Oh well. It happens

I keep sayin we... You are wondering "Who is we?" We is my Wife Kelli and I!

This was when we were still dating, at a house party I threw when I lived out on the west side of Burque. Had some good times in that house but I just was not a happy person living there. It wasn't good for my mental health lol.

That's all I got for now. Later.
